Anthropic IPO Filing: Revenue Hits $16.3B Ahead of Debut

Anthropic has officially filed for its initial public offering, kicking off what could become one of the most closely watched public debuts in modern U.S. history. The Anthropic IPO filing arrived Monday after weeks of leaked S-1 drafts, and it reveals a company growing revenue at a striking pace while still posting substantial losses.

  • Revenue Soars to $16.3 Billion
  • Enterprise Customers Drive the Business
  • Founders Keep Control After the IPO
  • Why the Structure Is Controversial
  • What’s Still Unknown

Anthropic plans to list under the ticker “ANT.” The filing offers the first detailed public look at the financial scale of the AI developer behind Claude — and at the unusual governance structure that will shape its future as a public company.

Revenue Soars to $16.3 Billion

According to the SEC filing, Anthropic recorded revenue of $16.3 billion for the first half of 2026, up sharply from $1.2 billion in the same period last year.

That growth came alongside an operating loss of $693 million — a meaningful improvement from the $2.1 billion in operating losses the company recorded in the first half of 2025. Anthropic’s net loss, however, reached $80.7 billion, largely driven by noncash accounting adjustments tied to convertible debt.

The company cautions that it “may not achieve or sustain profitability in the future,” a standard but notable disclosure for a business of this scale.

Enterprise Customers Drive the Business

The filing also sheds light on the depth of Anthropic’s enterprise customer base. As of the end of September:

  • More than 11,900 customers were spending $100,000 or more annually

  • 1,900 customers were spending $1 million or more

  • About 250 customers were spending $10 million or more

Those figures underline how much of Anthropic’s revenue depends on large organizations rather than individual consumers.

Founders Keep Control After the IPO

As previously reported, Anthropic’s governance structure will allow its seven co-founders to maintain control once the company goes public. Dario Amodei, Daniela Amodei, Tom Brown, Jack Clark, Jared Kaplan, Sam McCandlish, and Christopher Olah will form the “Founder LLC,” which will collectively control 50.1% of shareholder voting power.

According to the filing, the arrangement is designed to preserve the company’s AI safety mission. Anthropic’s Long-Term Benefit Trust, established in 2023 to ensure the company pursues its public benefit mission, will have the authority to appoint most of the company’s board.

Why the Structure Is Controversial

The governance setup has drawn scrutiny because voting power will not be proportional to the founders’ economic ownership. As a result, public shareholders will have little practical control over a company building technology that, by its own admission, poses “catastrophic or existential risks to humanity.”

For investors weighing the Anthropic IPO filing, that tension sits at the center of the story: exceptional growth paired with limited shareholder influence.

What’s Still Unknown

Anthropic has not yet disclosed how much it hopes to raise or its proposed share price. Those details will come in later amendments to the filing, and they will shape how the market ultimately values the company.

For now, the Anthropic IPO filing confirms the scale of the business, the pace of its growth, and the founders’ intent to keep the mission — and control — firmly in their hands.
