LinkedIn Side Hustle Tools Are Changing How You Work

LinkedIn side hustle tools are getting a major upgrade. The platform is rolling out new features built for people who juggle side projects, founder ambitions, and work that does not fit under a single job title. According to the company, the changes reflect how work looks different now for many of its users.

The updates cover profiles, networking, creator analytics, and even paid consultations. If you use LinkedIn to grow something beyond your day job, here is what is changing and why it matters.

Profiles That Show More Than One Role

One of the most practical updates involves how profiles handle multiple jobs. LinkedIn is tweaking profiles so people can highlight more than one role at a time. That is a meaningful shift for anyone running a side business, freelancing, or building a project while holding a full-time position.

The company says it has seen a 70-percent increase in people who added “founder” to their profiles over the last year. More users are also listing multiple ongoing roles, which suggests the old one-job-per-profile model no longer fits everyone.

Why Multiple Roles Matter

If your income and identity span several projects, a single headline rarely tells the whole story. Letting users show multiple roles makes it easier for clients, collaborators, and customers to find them. It also signals that LinkedIn recognizes the growing number of people who do not follow a traditional career path.

For side hustlers, this means less time explaining your situation and more time connecting with the right people. A profile that accurately reflects your work can open doors that a narrow job title would keep closed.

A Network Feed Without the Algorithm

LinkedIn is testing a “network” feed that only shows posts and updates from existing connections and accounts you follow. Instead of algorithmic recommendations, this feed sticks to people you actually know.

For anyone building a side project, that could mean more meaningful engagement and less noise. A feed built around real connections may help you keep up with the people most likely to support, hire, or refer you.

Business Card in Your Phone Wallet

LinkedIn is also adding a “business card” feature that can be added to your phone’s wallet app. The goal is to make it easier to connect on LinkedIn with people you meet in real life. Instead of searching for a handle or QR code, you can share your profile directly from your wallet.

That small convenience could matter for freelancers and founders who network at events, conferences, or casual meetups. Making a connection should not feel like a technical hurdle.

Paid Advice Sessions for Founders

Founders and business owners will get a new way to monetize their LinkedIn presence through something called “Advice Sessions.” The feature lets people offer paid one-on-one meetings and consultations through the platform.

The company says Advice Sessions will initially be available to those with a business premium subscription in the US. Notably, LinkedIn says it will not take a cut of users’ earnings from these sessions. That detail could make the feature more attractive to consultants and coaches who already use the platform to find clients.

Who Should Pay Attention

If you already sell your expertise through coaching, consulting, or mentoring, Advice Sessions could become another revenue channel. Even if you are not ready to charge for your time, the feature signals that LinkedIn sees professional advice as something worth paying for.

Creator Analytics and Video Revenue Sharing

LinkedIn is introducing other creator-centric tools as well. A new analytics dashboard aims to help people better understand how their posts are performing. For creators making video content, the platform plans to expand its revenue-sharing program, which passes on a cut of revenue generated by pre-roll ads.

Together, these tools point to a broader push to keep creators and founders active on the platform rather than posting only on other networks. If you have been treating LinkedIn as an afterthought, the expanded revenue sharing may be worth a second look.

What the Analytics Dashboard Offers

Better analytics mean better decisions. Knowing which posts perform well helps you refine your content strategy without guessing. For side hustlers with limited time, that efficiency matters.

Why LinkedIn Says Work Is Changing

According to LinkedIn, all of these changes are meant to reflect the fact that work looks different now for a lot of people, thanks in part to the rise of AI.

The company’s Chief Product Officer, Hari Srinivasan, was asked whether AI is making it easier and faster to start a new venture, or whether labor market disruptions from AI are forcing people to get more creative. He said the company’s data shows “there are definitely more people starting businesses now,” though it is “hard to tell” what the underlying reasons may be.

Srinivasan also noted that there is more to starting a new venture than simply vibe coding a piece of software. “You can build all this incredible stuff with AI, but I don’t know if it’s necessarily made it easier to build a business.”

That perspective is worth keeping in mind. Tools can lower barriers, but building something sustainable still takes effort, strategy, and persistence.

What This Means for Your Side Hustle

If you already use LinkedIn to support a side project, these changes could make the platform more useful. A profile that shows multiple roles, a feed focused on real connections, and tools like Advice Sessions all point in the same direction: LinkedIn wants to be a place where side work is visible and, in some cases, profitable.

The rollout is gradual, and some features are limited by subscription tier and location. Still, the direction is clear. LinkedIn side hustle tools are no longer an afterthought. They are becoming part of the core experience.

For now, the best move is to keep your profile current and watch for these tools as they reach more users. Whether you are testing an idea or running an established side business, LinkedIn is making it easier to show the world what you do.
