Deezer AI Music Filter: A New Way to Block AI Tracks
Deezer is preparing to launch a Deezer AI music filter that lets listeners remove AI-generated tracks from their streaming experience. The company announced on Tuesday that it is developing a new toggle to hide AI music uploaded to its platform. The feature is expected to be available before the end of the year.
When switched on, the toggle will stop AI-generated tracks, albums, and related artists from appearing in search results. The idea is straightforward: give listeners who want a fully human-curated feed a simple way to get one.
Why Deezer Is Building the Filter
Deezer CEO Alexis Lanternier explained that the decision comes directly from listener feedback. “We’ve seen clear user demand for the ability to filter out AI-generated music, and we are now giving everyone the option to remove this content completely from their streaming experience on Deezer, and focus only on human creators and creations, if they wish,” he said in a statement.
Lanternier added that the rapid rise of AI music on the platform was one of the main reasons behind the toggle. Deezer also pointed to a survey from last year, which found that around 45% of its customers wanted a way to remove AI music from their feeds.
The demand is not hard to understand. As AI tools make it easier to produce and upload tracks, listeners increasingly want a say in what lands in their recommendations and search results.
The Scale of AI Uploads on Deezer
Deezer introduced AI-detection tooling last year and has been reporting on upload numbers ever since. At that time, AI-generated tracks represented 10% of daily uploads.
By July, the picture had changed dramatically. The company said more than 50% of daily uploads to its platform were AI-generated tracks, with an average of 90,000 tracks per day.
That growth helps explain why a filter moved from a nice-to-have request to a real product priority. When more than half of new uploads are synthetic, listeners who want human-made music need tools to find it.
How the Toggle Will Work
The Deezer AI music filter is designed to be simple. Once enabled, it will:
Hide AI-generated tracks from search results
Remove AI-generated albums from view
Exclude related AI artists from recommendations
The feature is expected to roll out before the end of the year. Deezer has not shared an exact launch date yet, but the company has confirmed the timeline.
For listeners who want to keep hearing everything, the toggle can stay off. The filter is optional, not a default setting, so the choice stays with the user.
What Other Platforms Are Doing
Deezer is not alone in confronting AI music. Other streaming services have taken their own approaches:
Bandcamp has completely banned AI tracks.
Tidal cut off monetization for people uploading AI music.
Spotify has taken a leaner stance, tagging AI tracks and artists more prominently.
Apple Music, according to an August report, was looking to label AI tracks by the end of the year.
Beyond platform-based tagging, some listeners are turning to independent tracking systems to identify AI music on their own. That suggests the demand for transparency goes beyond any single service.
What This Means for Listeners
For now, the Deezer AI music filter is still in development, with a launch window before the end of 2026. When it goes live, subscribers should gain a straightforward way to opt out of synthetic tracks entirely.
The bigger question is whether other platforms will follow with their own opt-out tools or stick with labeling and monetization changes. Deezer’s move signals that at least one major service sees filtering as a core feature rather than an afterthought.
Deezer’s upcoming toggle is a direct response to user demand and a fast-growing volume of AI uploads. If you want a streaming feed built around human creators, this feature is worth watching when it rolls out later this year.
