Anthropic Merges Claude Chat Cowork in One Interface

Claude chat Cowork are now combined into a single interface by Anthropic, making it less confusing for people to decide which tab to use for different tasks. The unified interface lets users access chat, Cowork, and Artifacts — Claude’s interactive workspace feature — within one window. Claude Design, which was introduced in April for website and prototype design, also works anywhere within Claude.

This change marks a significant shift in how the company approaches its product design. Instead of asking users to figure out which feature lives where, the new interface is built around automatic routing. The goal is simple: let people focus on their work rather than on navigating menus.

Why the Unified Interface Matters

Before this rollout, the company said customers often struggled to choose the right tab for the right task. With the new design, Claude automatically routes requests without having to switch tabs or windows. The idea is to remove confusion about which feature to pick and use just one front end to route work to different parts of the app.

This is a meaningful improvement for anyone who has ever opened a tool and wondered whether a task belonged in chat or in a workspace. By removing that decision point entirely, the experience becomes smoother and more intuitive. Users no longer need to think about the underlying architecture — they simply describe what they want, and the system handles the rest.

The update comes in the wake of an upgrade of Cowork’s memory layer, which helps Claude remember user context across chats. That memory improvement laid the groundwork for a more seamless Claude chat Cowork experience across the entire platform.

New Presentation Tools

Anthropic is also adding dedicated features for making presentations and documents. Users can ask the AI assistant to create, edit, and present slides, and it can also download the generated presentation as a PDF or PowerPoint.

For professionals who regularly build decks, this removes a significant amount of manual work. Instead of switching between multiple applications, users can describe the presentation they need and refine it through conversation. The ability to export to common formats means the output fits into existing workflows without friction.

The presentation feature also supports editing and presenting directly within the platform. This creates a more cohesive experience where the entire lifecycle of a slide deck — from first draft to final delivery — happens in one place.

Document Creation and Collaboration

Similarly, with the Docs feature, users can work alongside Claude to create sections, ask questions, and comment on completed parts. Users can share generated documents or slides with a link and edit them on their phone.

This collaborative approach extends the assistant’s role beyond simple text generation. Users can treat Claude as a working partner that helps structure content, answer questions about specific sections, and incorporate feedback. The commenting capability is particularly useful for teams that need to review and refine documents together.

Sharing via link and mobile editing mean that work does not stay locked to a single device. A user can begin a document on a desktop, share it with a colleague, and continue refining it from a phone. This flexibility reflects how modern work actually happens — across devices, locations, and time zones.

Cross-Device Workflow

Users can also ask Claude to start creating a document on desktop, and they can check the progress of the task using the mobile app. This asynchronous workflow is designed for people who want to delegate work and monitor it without being tied to a single screen.

The ability to check progress on mobile is a small but practical feature. It means a user can kick off a task before stepping away from their desk and confirm completion later without reopening a laptop. For busy professionals, this kind of continuity can make a real difference in daily productivity.

Rollout and Availability

These features are rolling out to Claude’s Pro and Max plans first, on the web, desktop, and mobile over the coming weeks. The company plans to extend them to the free and team tiers later.

Starting with Pro and Max makes sense from a product standpoint. These are the users most likely to rely on the platform for intensive work, and their feedback will help refine the experience before it reaches a broader audience. The phased approach also allows the company to manage demand and address any issues that arise during the initial rollout.

What This Means for Users

The consolidation of Claude chat Cowork into one interface represents a broader trend in AI product design. As assistants become more capable, the challenge shifts from adding features to making those features feel effortless to use.

For existing users, the transition should feel natural. The features they rely on are still present — they are simply organized differently. For new users, the unified experience lowers the barrier to entry by removing the need to learn a complex navigation system.

The presentation and document tools also signal that the platform is moving toward becoming a more complete productivity environment. Rather than serving as a single-purpose chatbot, it is evolving into a workspace where multiple types of work can happen.

Anthropic’s decision to merge these interfaces reflects a clear understanding of user behavior. People do not want to think about which tool to use — they want to accomplish their goals with as little friction as possible. By automating the routing process and consolidating the experience, the company is addressing a real pain point.

As these features roll out to more tiers, the true test will be whether the unified approach delivers on its promise. If it does, it could set a new standard for how AI assistants are designed. For now, Pro and Max users will be the first to experience the change and help shape what comes next.
