Verizon has apologized to customers who pre-ordered the iPhone Duo through the carrier but were later told their delivery is delayed. In an email sent to affected customers, Verizon said an “unexpected shipping delay” means that iPhone Duo deliveries to some customers will “take a little longer.”
To make up for the inconvenience, Verizon is offering affected customers a $100 Verizon gift card that can be used online or in-store toward bill payments or merchandise.
“We owe you an apology,” said Verizon. “We appreciate your patience and the opportunity to make this right,” the company added.
Verizon said customers will receive an email about the $100 gift card next week, and it assured that it is working to fulfill orders as soon as it can.
“Your order is secure, your place in line hasn’t changed, and our team is actively tracking your shipment to get it to you as quickly as possible,” said Verizon.
What the Verizon iPhone Duo Delay Means for Buyers
One customer who pre-ordered an iPhone Duo from Verizon when pre-orders began on Friday, October 16, was initially quoted a Friday, October 23 delivery date. That meant he would have received the device on its launch day, but his estimated delivery date has since been revised to Saturday, November 7.
There are many similar examples of Verizon customers with delayed pre-orders across forums and social media platforms, with many revised delivery dates now falling in the October 31 to November 14 window.
Some customers who pre-ordered an iPhone Duo through Verizon did receive the device on October 23, so not everyone is impacted.
Apple Cites “Extraordinary” iPhone Duo Demand
Last week, Apple said pre-order demand for the iPhone Duo was “nothing short of extraordinary,” with estimated delivery dates on its own online store pushing into late January for new orders. Some lucky customers managed to secure an iPhone Duo on a walk-in basis yesterday, while in-store pickup reservations resumed with little to no availability.
Leading up to the iPhone Duo launch, there were a few reports mentioning that there would be supply constraints due to alleged manufacturing challenges. In any case, getting the device early is proving to be a challenge for some.
Verizon’s $100 Gift Card: Who Qualifies and How to Claim It
The $100 Verizon gift card is aimed at customers whose iPhone Duo pre-orders were hit by the unexpected shipping delay. Verizon confirmed that affected customers will receive an email about the gift card next week, so there is no separate form to fill out or code to request.
The gift card can be used online or in-store toward bill payments or merchandise, giving recipients flexibility in how they apply the credit.
Verizon also stressed that orders remain secure despite the delay. “Your order is secure, your place in line hasn’t changed, and our team is actively tracking your shipment to get it to you as quickly as possible,” the company said.
For buyers waiting on a revised delivery date, the gift card is a goodwill gesture rather than a fix for the underlying shipping problem. Customers whose dates shifted into the October 31 to November 14 window should keep an eye on their inbox next week for the gift card email.
How to Check Your Verizon iPhone Duo Order Status
In the meantime, Verizon said affected customers can check their iPhone Duo order status on the My Orders page via the My Verizon website or app. That page reflects the most current estimated delivery date, which in many cases has moved later than the date quoted at checkout.
Customers who pre-ordered on October 16 and were originally promised an October 23 delivery have seen dates revised to as late as November 7, with others falling between October 31 and November 14. Checking the My Orders page is the most reliable way to confirm where a specific order stands.
Why Some iPhone Duo Orders Shipped on Time
Not every Verizon pre-order was affected. Some customers who pre-ordered an iPhone Duo through Verizon did receive the device on October 23, its launch day, so the delay is not universal.
That mixed outcome mirrors the broader launch picture. Apple said pre-order demand for the iPhone Duo was “nothing short of extraordinary,” with delivery estimates on its own online store pushing into late January for new orders. In-store pickup reservations resumed with little to no availability, and some customers managed to secure a device on a walk-in basis.
Leading up to launch, there were a few reports mentioning supply constraints due to alleged manufacturing challenges. Whether those constraints explain every delayed Verizon order is unclear, but they add context to why early delivery has proven difficult for some buyers.
What Affected Customers Should Do Next
Watch for the $100 gift card email from Verizon next week.
Check the My Orders page via the My Verizon website or app for the latest delivery estimate.
Keep the original order confirmation handy in case the quoted date needs to be referenced.
Use the gift card online or in-store toward bill payments or merchandise once it arrives.
For customers still waiting, Verizon’s message is that orders are secure and their place in line has not changed. The company said its team is actively tracking shipments to get devices delivered as quickly as possible.
