Razer PC Remote Play Brings Full-Resolution Game Streaming to Android Without Black Bars

Streaming PC games to an Android phone has been possible for years, but it never felt quite right—until now. With Razer’s PC Remote Play, I finally got to experience PC gaming on my Android device the way it should be: full screen, smooth, and with zero black bars.

A Big Win for Mobile Gamers

Most remote play or game streaming setups mirror your monitor's resolution, often locked into a 16:9 aspect ratio. That setup works fine on desktop screens, but when you shift to a modern phone or tablet with a taller or more unique display ratio, it means playing inside a boxed-in view—literally.

That’s where Razer PC Remote Play stands out. The feature, now rolled out to all users after a beta run earlier this year, dynamically adjusts the resolution and refresh rate to match your mobile device. No more black bars. No more clunky scaling. Just buttery-smooth, full-screen gameplay tailored to your screen.

Fully Optimized for Your Device

What I appreciated most is that the optimization is automatic. Razer’s Cortex software on Windows handles everything on the backend, ensuring games stream at the full frame rate and max resolution of my Android device. The visuals are sharp, gameplay feels fluid, and there’s no compromise on quality.

Razer describes the experience as:

“Automatic optimization that takes full advantage of your device’s powerful display: Enjoy incredibly sharp, smooth visuals on your device. Razer PC Remote Play automatically optimizes for the device’s maximum resolution and refresh rate, without locking gameplay to fixed aspect ratios.”

Seamless Razer Kishi Integration

Another feature I love? The seamless integration with the Razer Kishi controller. It’s not just about attaching a gamepad to your phone anymore—Razer PC Remote Play fully supports controller rumble and low-latency input, making every session feel console-like.

Whether I'm playing a story-driven game on Steam, a competitive shooter from the Epic Games Store, or a chill sim through PC Game Pass, the experience feels natural and responsive.

Advanced Codec for Better Streaming

Razer has also implemented AV1 codec support to reduce latency and maintain high-quality streams. If you’ve used older streaming solutions and dealt with lag or pixelation, this codec helps fix that. Streams are crisp and responsive, even when I’m pushing a graphically intense title.

Supported Platforms and Access

To start using PC Remote Play, I installed the Razer Cortex app on my Windows PC. Then, on my Android phone running Android 14, I simply launched the Razer Nexus app—or you can use the dedicated PC Remote Play app.

Even iOS users aren’t left out. With iOS 18 and above, the feature works just as well. You can also stream to other Windows-based handhelds, which makes this a really versatile option for gamers like me who use multiple devices.

Razer’s PC Remote Play delivers a true upgrade to game streaming on Android. No more settling for black bars, weird aspect ratios, or latency issues. With native resolution streaming, rumble feedback through Kishi, and support for AV1, it’s easily become my go-to for mobile PC gaming.

If you haven’t given it a shot yet, now’s the time.
