Sales Knowledge Automation Platform 1up Secures $5 Million to Revolutionize Sales Teams with AI

In the fast-paced world of sales, teams often struggle to access the information they need quickly. This leads to inefficiencies, missed opportunities, and frustrated salespeople. 1up, an AI-powered knowledge automation platform, aims to solve this problem by providing sales teams with instant access to the information they need to succeed.

Founded by George Avetisov, a seasoned entrepreneur who previously founded the cybersecurity startup HYPR, 1up leverages AI to pull information from various internal company sources and databases. This empowers sales professionals to:

  • Find answers to product or technical questions instantly: No more tedious searches or waiting for responses from colleagues.
  • Execute requests for proposals (RFPs) efficiently: 1up automates many of the repetitive tasks involved in RFP creation, saving valuable time.
  • Complete technical questionnaires with ease: 1up helps gather the necessary information quickly and accurately, ensuring a smooth sales process.

A Unique Approach to Sales and Marketing

1up has garnered significant attention, not only for its innovative technology but also for its unconventional marketing strategy. The company has built a large following on LinkedIn by sharing engaging and humorous sales-related memes.

"We run one of the biggest sales meme libraries in the community, and we get millions of impressions on LinkedIn," Avetisov shared. "People follow us just from our memes. I know it’s a little weird, but like, one out of three of our leads comes from a meme."

This unique approach has helped 1up build a strong brand presence and attract a significant customer base, including notable companies like WalkMe and Deliveroo.

Securing $5 Million in Funding

1up recently announced a $5 million funding round led by Upfront Ventures, with participation from RRE Ventures, 8-Bit Capital, and prominent investors like Friendster founder Jonathan Abrams.

Kobie Fuller, general partner at Upfront Ventures and lead investor in this round, emphasized the company's strong founding team and the clear market need for 1up's solution.

"George, a second-time founder, saw the problem and pain point firsthand," Fuller said. "When we talk with George, he can dive in at whatever level or depth in a manner you don’t see all the time with CEOs. You can tell he’s mission driven, he has 1up tattooed on his inner wrist. He’s really, really in it; he’s incredibly scrappy."

Addressing the Rise of AI in Sales

The emergence of AI has spurred the development of numerous sales-focused tools, particularly in areas like lead generation and customer outreach. However, 1up differentiates itself by focusing on a specific and critical need within sales organizations: knowledge management.

"When you talk to the enterprise, knowledge management is not a budget item. It’s not a hair on fire problem," Avetisov explained. "Our philosophy on this is that for knowledge automation to succeed and become a billion-dollar company or industry, it needs to be laser-focused on a persona and on a department."

By addressing this specific pain point, 1up aims to carve out a unique niche in the growing AI-powered sales technology market.

Looking Ahead

With the recent funding, 1up plans to expand its sales team and introduce new features to further enhance the platform's capabilities.

"Sales teams get a lot of shit," Avetisov remarked. "They have one of the hardest jobs in the company, and their tool set is horrible. They’ve got so many tools for prospecting and CRMs and all that stuff. But when it comes to knowledge management, they have been completely neglected. So that’s our hot take. That’s our laser focus."

By empowering sales teams with the knowledge they need, 1up is poised to revolutionize the way businesses sell and significantly improve sales performance across industries.
